Dethatching

Dethatching is simply the process of removing excess thatch from your lawn. Thatch is the organic material, including grass clippings and dead leaves, that rests directly on top of the soil between the blades of grass. Normally this material breaks down harmlessly, but when it accumulates it can become a problem. Excessive thatch can prevent water and nutrients from reaching your lawn's roots or lead to insect and fungus problems that damage your lawn.

Aeration

Is your lawn looking brown and scraggly? It may need aerating. When the roots and soil become compacted, your lawn has a hard time reaching deep enough to find the water and nutrients it needs to look healthy. In addition to this, water may be running off instead of soaking into the ground where it's needed. Aeration loosens the soil without damaging your lawn by pulling up small plugs of soil which are then quickly reincorporated into your lawn.

Overseeding

Whether your lawn is becoming sparse or you want to add variety to your lawn to increace its vibrancy, overseeding can help by planting new grass over the top of your existing lawn. Over time, your lawn's ability to reproduce slows down. This can lead to a thinning lawn. Not only does a thicker lawn look better, it also makes it harder for weeds to creep in. Even if your lawn looks great already, planting more than one kind of grass in your yard can help your lawn look it's best across the seasons.

Fertilizer

What's the difference between a good lawn and a great lawn? Fertilizer provides nutrients necesary to maximize the beauty of your lawn. Remember, a healthy lawn leaves less room for weeds to grow. Nitrogen gives you a strong, healthy, green lawn while phosphorus encourages a healthy root system to support all that growth. And potasium strengthens your lawn against disease and harsh conditions like cold or dry weather. To get the most from your fertilizer, it helps to apply the right kind of fertilizer for the season two or three times a year.

Weed Control

Weeds are a lawns enemy for several reasons. Not only to they detract from the beauty of your lawn, they can actively harm your lawn. Weeds crowd out grass and steel vital moisture and nutrients from your lawn. Killing off weeds means all that fertilizer and water goes to feeding your lawn instead of going to waste feeding the enemy.
